Adidas ended its highly successful partnership with the artist formerly known as “Kanye West” in October 2022, marking the conclusion of one of the most notable collaborations in sneaker history. While the Three Stripes has since re-released numerous pairs from the adidas Yeezy line to mitigate financial losses, major retailers have refrained from doing so. However, rumors have emerged that Foot Locker Inc. is planning to reintroduce popular Yeezy models to its inventory. While the retailer has not officially confirmed the news, reliable sources on social media have supported these claims.
This potential decision to sell Kanye West’s designs contradicts Foot Locker’s previous stance during the peak of the adidas fallout. Following the split, a company-wide email circulated expressing disapproval of the adidas Yeezy frontman and reaffirming the company’s commitment to combating antisemitism and discriminatory behavior. The email stated that Foot Locker would not support future Yeezy product releases and instructed its retail operators to remove existing Yeezy products from shelves and digital platforms.
If Foot Locker reverses its previous decision and begins selling Yeezys again, it could face potential backlash and damage its public image, similar to adidas. Nevertheless, sources claim that Foot Locker will release popular Yeezy styles, including the Yeezy Slides and Yeezy Boost 350 v2, throughout the entire month of August.
